Child Study is a Montessori-based approach to RTI/MTSS, helping educators identify needs early and provide data-driven tiered support for development.

“Students are getting a more systematized level of support—
we see progress, and teachers feel supported.”

“We have seen tremendous growth in our students this year as a result of Child Study.”

Most public schools use a form of Response to Intervention (RTI)/Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to identify, support, and track children with learning disabilities. NCMPS Child Study is an RTI/MTSS system that centers Montessori as the “Tier I” intervention and gives schools a clear, usable structure for helping children get the most out of their education.

Participants in this course will learn

  • The meaning and practices of RTI/MTSS
  • The theory and practice of Child Study, including:
    • a child-centered foundation
    • family partnership
    • observation and recordkeeping
    • Action Plans
    • the Child Study Meeting
    • Tier II and Tier III interventions

Participants will get access to the full suite of Child Study tools, including Action Plans, the Team Meeting Protocol, observation forms, and more.
