This course introduces public Montessori school leaders to the fundamental elements of Montessori philosophy, curriculum, and pedagogy. It consists of six units, including video lectures, footage from Montessori classrooms, and readings. The time commitment for each unit is approximately two hours. Each unit will be followed by a one-hour live Zoom discussion with the course instructor.

I was able to formulate some language to use when speaking to parents about what our program is, to better inform them of what to expect should they choose to apply for enrollment into our program.”

“I feel empowered to take a more purposeful role in modifying and modernizing Montessori pedagogy! I was feeling a bit limited by what felt like the constraints of the Montessori method, but after taking this course and talking to others through the live seminar, I feel like I have the skills and confidence to make some necessary changes within my current program setting.”

“I liked the fact that we were not bogged down with heavy assignments, but it allowed us to reflect on our practice. I also noted that that some of the issues that I had as a leader were not unique to me. Being able to listen to best practices for solving these issues was a plus for me. Our facilitator was able to share a wealth of information for managing a Montessori school.”

“The pacing of the course was great. It allowed time to process and apply before building and adding more. Overall it helped create a paradigm of possibility instead of fear.”

“The presenter was knowledgeable and able to acknowledge the need for updates to the current students needs within Montessori itself. We were able to have real discussions and thought partners around making Montessori work in the truly public sector.”

Live discussions will be held on the following Mondays and Thursdays from 2:30-3:30pm ET:

  • July 8th
  • July 11th
  • July 15th
  • July 18th
  • July 22nd
