The Child Study Workshop is an online facilitated practice group for school-based Child Study Leads and teachers who are leading the implementation of Child Study in their schools. Please note that participants must have previously completed NCMPS Child Study Training to be eligible for this workshop. You will be prompted to enter the date of your training after completing registration.

Participants of this workshop will:

  • meet with the Child Study Training instructor 12 times over the course of the school year
  • receive support in successfully implementing Child Study at their school and deepening their understanding of  the process
  • problem-solve in real time and work on student action plans as they roll out the program in their schools
  • collaboratively work through case studies
  • receive all the updated tools and forms for the Child Study Training 

This workshop meets from 4:00-5:00pm ET on the following Tuesdays:

About the Instructor

María Carvajal has 20 years of experience in teaching, educational research, consulting, mentorship, and program management in El Salvador, Mexico, Spain, and the U.S. She is a certified AMI elementary guide with primary teaching experience, and holds a B.A. and M.A. in Humanities from the University of Navarra and a M.Ed. in Montessori Elementary Education from Loyola University Maryland. María’s professional interests include trauma-informed care, English learner education, and early intervention. For research, she is currently focused on at-risk student populations, receptive and expressive language delays, and associations between social-emotional competence and literacy skills in children.
