Katie began her career as a middle and high school English teacher in traditional and charter schools. She was introduced to Montessori while working at the South Carolina Department of Education. Katie went on to earn her PhD in urban education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she studied outcomes for African American students in public Montessori schools.
